At The Natural World Centre we host a range of exhibitions within our Upper Gallery Exhibition space. 

We shall regularly update this section with forthcoming exhibitions and events that will take place within the space at the Centre.

For the Half Term holidays we will be hosting our Childrens' Activities within this space, it will also cater for Children's Birthday Parties and other private functions, please refer to our News Section on the Welcome page for information about our Summer Activities.

Please send information about your exhibition proposal, include artist statements or a description of your exhibits as well as photographs of your work. There are slots available for 2012-2013 exhibition programme. 

If you are a local crafter and make unique handmade products and looking for a outlet to sell your work, we are looking for new exhibitors for our annual Christmas Crafts Fair which takes place in the Upper Gallery Space during November - January. Please send photographs, cost prices and information about yourself and work to the above email address. Please note we will be planning the Christmas Crafts Fair from August onwards so please get in touch during this time.

Lincolnshire: Links to the Past

Upper Gallery Exhibition Space

 

The Natural World Centre will be jointly hosting an exhibition with the Lincolnshire Archives about genealogy and local Lincolnshire history.

There will be information about how you can research your own family history.

The exhibition will also feature original artwork depicting familiar landmarks within Lincolnshire by Peter Rooke and Mo Teeuw.

There will also artwork inspired by memories and family ancestry by local artists including: Harriott Brand, Lynne Kemish, Linda Hollaway and Jackie Cheetham.

There will also be a selection of photographs of Thorpe on the Hill village provided by Paul Smith who oversees the local parish newsletter View from the Hill.

The Lincolnshire Archives will be hosting free drop in events on the 8th and 17th March running from the 11am – 4pm.

The 8th March will be Local Lincolnshire History - a perfect opportunity for you to gain advice on how to research your birth place of your ancestors.

On the 17th March - Lincolnshire Family History Day, which will be free advice on how to research your family tree and also how to use Lincolnshire Archives services and their new online search programme ‘Lincs to the Past’.

Peter Rooke and Michael J Jones will also be offering a free talk entitled: ‘Lincoln: Townscapes through Time’ on the 22nd March between 10.30 – 11.30am within the Upper Gallery Space.

The exhibition will include video footage filmed by Blow by Blow, which documents Lincoln through out time.
Andrew Blow from Blow by Blow will also giving a free talk entitled ‘Bygone Lincoln on Film’ about the footage that he has captured on film. The talk will take place on the 28th March 2012 between 2 – 3pm within the Upper Gallery Space.

The Lincolnshire Victorians will at the Centre in traditional Victorian dress and to discuss life within the Victorian Period on 18th February, 24th March and 14th April.

There is also a chance to win a free annual membership courtesy of www.ancestry.co.uk if you complete a survey about the exhibition, so it is definately worth a visit!

There will be various Children’s Workshops during February (13th – 17th) and Easter Half Term Holidays (2nd – 12th April). All workshops will be charged at £2.50 per child.

Explore, Discover, Experience!
The Heart of Lincolnshire

28 April – 10 June 2012

Nestled in the heart of Lincolnshire, North Kesteven boasts a wealth of landscapes, ancient woodlands and historic buildings, all just waiting to be explored!


Visit our fascinating exhibition to learn where you can find a working forge, medieval tower or see how flour is ground in a restored water mill. Discover how you can explore the district’s delightful countryside and learn more about our heritage and landscape using the popular Stepping Out walks.


With a display from Hill Holt Wood, ‘proving the value of ancient woodland in the 21st Century’, an intriguing quiz and lots more you’ll have plenty to do this summer once you’ve visited us!

There will also be Children workshops and activities running throughout the holidays 2nd – 10th June run in conjunction with the exhibition, further details to be announced.

Photographic Competition 2012

We are pleased to announce the third annual Photographic Competition running at The Natural World Centre. If you are a budding photographer or have taken a photograph whilst you have visited the Whisby Nature Reserve and want to share it, then this is the perfect opportunity to do so!

This year will be sponsored by Opticron, our supplier of Optics and Binoculars within the gift shop at the Centre. We are also pleased to announce that there will be a special Optics Day on the 29th April. Please visit our What's On page for further details.

All entries will feature in an exhibition running from the 18th June - 15th July 2012.

Entry is FREE but restricted to one entry per person, there are two catergories of Adults (16 years and over) and Children (under 16 years old).

The winners will feature in 2013 calendar and will also receive a certificate recognising their success and the winners will receive a prize from Opticron.

Please note we will be accepting entries from the 10th May until the 10th June.
